Our Founder's Story: From Student to Mentor
When Djenabou Diawara left Mali to pursue her studies in the United States, she carried with her big dreams and high hopes — but also many questions.
She began her journey at Perimeter College, earning her associate degree before transferring to the prestigious Columbia University in New York. In the United States, she faced cultural adjustments, academic challenges, and the reality of navigating a system with no clear roadmap.
Among the 12 students from Mali who started the journey with her, only two graduated on time. That difficult reality shaped her passion and purpose.
Djenabou quickly realized that many African students abroad do not fail because of a lack of intelligence or ambition — but because they lack the right guidance to navigate new systems, seize opportunities, and adjust socially and culturally.
She herself entered the U.S. education system without knowing the difference between a community college and a university. Yet through perseverance, mentorship, and faith, she learned, adapted, and excelled — receiving 19 awards of excellence and recognition during her academic journey.
Today, as the Founder and Executive Director of Edu-X Services LLC, Djenabou has transformed her personal experience into a mission to guide African students and reassure their families. Her story is living proof that with the right support, guidance, and mentorship, African students can not only study abroad but thrive as future leaders.
